Parwal or Pointed Gourd is a tiny fruit with smooth skin with light green stripes and thin white flesh that is watery and crisp below. The fruit has a slightly bitter aftertaste and is juicy and crisp. The fruit turns a rich crimson colour and gets tasty as it ripens. Parwal can be eaten raw as a salad, but it's most commonly cooked and used in curries, stir fries, and Indian pickles and chutneys.
